Anatomy of Mainland Britain

2005

Anatomy of Mainland Britain is a visual study of social and economic priorities of mainland Britain.

By focusing on and separating the road networks of any country we can study how people have evolved through time, and how the economy and social structures of a modern world have effected the way we prioritise city's and efficiency of travel. Made by scanning and hand tracing maps, these 5 separations took 800 hours to complete. Exposed onto lightfilm and then onto photo paper, finished prints exhibit in extreme detail every road within Mainland Britain.
